Further up the Valley. Level ground on most properties makes for a quick, clean drop.
Around Mirani it's mostly hay and feed protection, machinery parts, and rural property security. Whatever the job, the process doesn't change: one call, one delivered price with the freight in it, and the right truck matched to your access.

Guide pricing only — what you pay delivered depends on where you are and what's in the yard that week. Ring (07) 4944 2211 and we'll give you a real number, not a range. Freight to Mirani is quoted with the container, so the number you're given is the number you pay.

Mirani is the shire town of the upper Pioneer Valley, and beyond it the valley narrows towards Gargett, Finch Hatton and the foot of the Eungella range. It's cane and cattle country, with a scattering of lifestyle blocks and small farms among the bigger holdings. People here tend to be practical about storage. They want something strong, lockable and cheap to maintain, and they don't want to wait for a builder.
On the farms, containers protect hay and feed from rain and rodents, hold machinery parts and tools, and give a secure spot for chemicals and fuel away from the house. Cattle properties use them for fencing gear, vet supplies and saddlery. Lifestyle-block owners use them the way people do everywhere: a garage substitute, a workshop, or somewhere dry for the ride-on and the camping gear.
Tourism up towards Finch Hatton Gorge and Eungella also brings some demand from accommodation operators and small businesses who need maintenance storage on their properties.
Much of the country around Mirani is level valley floor, and most properties give a quick, clean drop in the dry: a wide gate off the main road, a firm track and plenty of room. Watch for soft ground near creeks and irrigation, and for the cane itself. During the growing season it can close in right to the edge of a farm track and limit how far a truck can swing.
Further up the valley the country gets hillier, and properties towards the range can have steep driveways, tight bends and creek crossings. The road up the Eungella range is steep and winding. A container going up there needs a proper conversation about which truck can do it safely, and some drop spots on the range are better served by a smaller unit or a crane. We would rather tell you that honestly than try it and fail.
Kinchant Dam and the creeks off the valley also mean some low country floods. Choose a drop spot above any water you've seen lying in a big wet.
Hay stored in a container stays dry and out of reach of rats and mice, which makes a difference in a wet year. A 40ft holds a useful quantity of small squares. For round bales, measure first, because the door opening and internal width decide what fits, and the dimensions page has the figures. Leave some airflow around the stack, because a closed steel box traps humidity.
Parts and tools usually go in a 20ft with shelving down one side. On a small block where only a narrow gap is available, a 10ft fits where nothing else will, though it costs more than a 20ft because it's cut down and rebuilt. Farm chemicals are better in a dangerous goods unit.
Most Mirani buyers keep their container for years, so buying is the common route. Cargo-worthy used units are wind and watertight and suit feed and anything that has to stay dry. As-is units are cheaper but are sold as seen and not sold watertight, which is fine for fencing wire and steel but not for hay.
Hire works for jobs with a clear end, such as a renovation, a house build or temporary storage while a new shed goes up. Hire units go out cargo-worthy, wind and watertight. The sales and hire page sets out where each option comes out ahead.
Mirani deliveries run up the valley from Mackay with our regular trucks. Freight is quoted with the container for your property, and you get one delivered figure up front. The day is confirmed at order and depends on stock, the truck run and ground conditions.
If you're past Gargett or heading up the range, tell us at the start and send photos of the driveway and drop spot. It's the fastest way to find out which truck can do the job.
Sometimes, depending on the property and the drop spot. The range road is steep and winding, so we assess the truck and container size case by case. Some sites suit a smaller unit or a crane.
Yes, if the container is cargo-worthy and sited on firm, raised ground. Keep some airflow around the stack, because a closed box traps humidity, and measure bale sizes against the door opening first.
Yes. Valley-floor properties are usually straightforward in the dry. Send photos if the access includes steep sections or creek crossings.
For steel, wire and gear that doesn't mind moisture, it can be. As-is units are sold as seen and are not sold watertight, so choose cargo-worthy for feed or anything that must stay dry.
