Out west into the Bowen Basin. Mine site deliveries are a known quantity for us — we understand induction, access and lay-down requirements.
Around Moranbah it's mostly mine site storage, contractor laydown, crib rooms and compliant dangerous goods units. Whatever the job, the process doesn't change: one call, one delivered price with the freight in it, and the right truck matched to your access.
| Container | Used from | New from |
|---|---|---|

| 40ft Containers | $2,600 | $5,500 |
Guide pricing only — what you pay delivered depends on where you are and what's in the yard that week. Ring (07) 4944 2211 and we'll give you a real number, not a range. Freight to Moranbah is quoted with the container, so the number you're given is the number you pay.

Moranbah exists because of coal, and nearly every container we send there is connected to the mines in some way. Contractors need laydown storage, tool cribs and site offices. Mine services businesses in town need parts stores and workshops. Labour-hire and camp operators need linen, consumables and equipment storage. The work comes in waves, following contract awards and shutdowns, and storage needs rise and fall with it.
The town itself has a residential side too. Families living in Moranbah want the same things people want anywhere, such as somewhere lockable for the boat, camping gear and tools, but they're a long way from the nearest self-storage facility, so a container on the block is often the simplest option.
Grazing properties around the town and out towards Nebo and Glenden use containers for feed, fencing gear and machinery parts, the same as rural blocks anywhere, just with longer driveways.
Delivering onto an operating mine site isn't like dropping a box on a house block. Drivers may need site inductions, vehicles may need to meet site requirements, and the drop has to be coordinated with the site contact so it goes to the right laydown area at the right time. Gate times, escort requirements and permits vary by site and operator.
Tell us the site, the contact and the requirements when you ask for a quote. The questions get asked before dispatch, not at the gate. If you're a contractor and the container needs to arrive with particular paperwork, such as inspection records, a CSC plate or photos of the unit, say so up front.
There's a full rundown in what Bowen Basin sites actually need, including the difference between a box that's fine for a town yard and one that will pass a site inspection.
The Bowen Basin's black clay soils set hard as concrete in the dry and turn into a sticky, impassable mess after heavy rain. Unsealed roads and site tracks can close for extended periods in a big wet, and a truck that leaves the gravel can bog quickly. That's the main reason Moranbah deliveries are confirmed against the weather as well as the truck schedule.
For a container that's staying put, the ground matters as much as the access. On black soil, set the container on solid supports under the corners, well above the natural surface, because the clay moves as it wets and dries and can leave a container twisted with doors that won't close. A gravel pad under the supports helps a lot.
40ft units are the default for contractor laydown and bulk parts storage on sites with room for a sidelifter. 20fts work for tool cribs and smaller stores. For crib rooms and site offices, a high cube is the right start, because people will be standing and working inside. Heat is a real issue in the Basin, and our insulation and ventilation guide covers what makes a crib usable in summer.
Fuel, oil, solvent and gas storage on site needs to be compliant, and a dangerous goods container matched to the class and quantities you hold is the usual answer. Tell us exactly what's being stored.
Contract work suits hire. If the storage is tied to a contract with an end date, hiring keeps capital free and the container goes back when the work finishes. Hire units are cargo-worthy grade, wind and watertight. If you're a Moranbah-based business with ongoing needs, or you want to fit the container out, buying generally makes more sense. The sales and hire page explains the trade-off.
Moranbah deliveries run west from Mackay as part of our Bowen Basin work. Freight is quoted with the container for your site or address, and the day is confirmed at order. It depends on stock, the truck schedule, site requirements and, in the wet, whether the roads are open.
Yes. Tell us the site, the site contact and any induction, permit or escort requirements when you ask for a quote so the delivery can be coordinated with the site before dispatch.
A high cube is the usual starting point because of the extra headroom. Insulation, ventilation and shade make a big difference to comfort in Basin heat.
Yes. We supply ventilated, bunded DG units. Tell us the DG class and quantities you store and we'll match the unit to your site's requirements.
It can. Black soil roads and site tracks can become impassable after heavy rain, so delivery days are confirmed against the weather and road conditions as well as the truck schedule.
Coppabella, Dysart, Nebo, Glenden, Middlemount, Eaglefield. Same process, same delivered price structure: tell us the address and we'll work out the truck.
