What Paget uses them for

Around Paget it's mostly tool cribs, parts storage, laydown yards and site offices for the mining services sector. Whatever the job, the process doesn't change: one call, one delivered price with the freight in it, and the right truck matched to your access.

Guide pricing only — what you pay delivered depends on where you are and what's in the yard that week. Ring (07) 4944 2211 and we'll give you a real number, not a range. Freight to Paget is quoted with the container, so the number you're given is the number you pay.

Paget runs on the mining supply chain

Paget is where the Bowen Basin gets serviced from. Drive through the estate and you'll pass hydraulics shops, fabrication workshops, tyre services, electrical contractors, hose and fittings suppliers and the depots of labour-hire and maintenance firms that send crews west every roster change. Almost all of them end up needing more lockable storage than their building has.

Typical Paget jobs look like this: a tool crib beside a workshop door, a parts store for a contract that's just been won, a site office for a yard that has outgrown its demountable, or a set of containers lined up as a secure compound fence with a shade roof between them. Because the work is contract-driven, requirements change quickly. A business that needed one box last year might need four when a new maintenance contract lands.

It's also where equipment gets staged before it heads out to the mines. Containers loaded in Paget and then trucked west to a site are a common pattern, and it's worth thinking about that sequence before you buy, because a unit that's going to site needs the right grade, paperwork and fit-out, not just a spare corner of the yard.

Industrial yards are easier, until they aren't

Industrial blocks are designed for trucks, so most Paget deliveries are straightforward. Wide gates, hardstand and room to manoeuvre mean a tilt-tray or a sidelifter can usually set up without trouble. The complications are specific: yards packed with stock and plant that has to be shuffled to clear a landing spot, gates that open inwards across the only straight approach, and overhead gantries or awnings along the building line.

The other Paget-specific issue is the ground behind the hardstand. Plenty of yards have compacted gravel out front and soft, poorly drained ground at the back, and that back strip is often exactly where the owner wants the container. After heavy rain those strips can bog a loaded truck. If your yard has a wet corner, tell us, because we would rather plan the placement than leave a container sitting where it isn't useful.

Busy estates also mean timing matters. If your gate is shared, or your yard has scheduled deliveries of its own, let us know so the truck isn't blocking someone else's semi. For bigger multi-container jobs we can plan the order of placement so each unit goes down in its final position.

Sizes that earn their keep in an industrial yard

The 40ft is the workhorse in Paget: the most floor space for the money, and yards usually have the room a sidelifter needs. A 20ft suits a tool crib or a parts store where space is tighter. High cubes are the pick for anything with racking or a workbench inside, because the extra headroom lets someone work standing up.

If you store fuels, oils, solvents or gas cylinders, look at dangerous goods containers rather than a standard box. Workshops in Paget get audited, and bunded, ventilated storage matched to the class you're holding is the difference between passing and a non-compliance notice. Tell us what's going on the shelves and we'll match the unit.

Buying versus hiring for contract work

Paget businesses tend to think in contract terms, and that's the right lens. If the storage is tied to a contract with a fixed end, hiring keeps it off the balance sheet and it can go back when the work finishes. Hire units are cargo-worthy grade, wind and watertight. If the need is ongoing, or the container is going to be modified with shelving, power or an office fit-out, buying makes more sense, because you own the asset and it keeps resale value.

Plenty of businesses do both: a couple of owned units as permanent stores, plus hired units that come and go with the workload. We're happy to quote both ways so the comparison is yours to make. The sales and hire page explains roughly where the break-even sits.

Getting it in the gate

Delivery into Paget is quoted with the container, like everywhere else. Tell us the street, the gate width and whether you want it placed against a building or out in the open, and we'll confirm the truck. The delivery day is confirmed when you order and depends on stock and the truck schedule, not a promise made before anyone has looked at the job.

If the unit is ultimately heading to a mine site rather than staying in Paget, tell us that at the start. Site deliveries have their own requirements for inductions, paperwork and laydown, covered in what Bowen Basin sites actually need.

Paget questions we get asked

Can you place a 40ft container in a Paget industrial yard?

In most yards, yes. A 40ft comes in on a sidelifter, which needs roughly 30 metres of clear working room beside the truck and firm ground. Tell us the yard layout and we'll confirm the truck before you order.

Do you supply dangerous goods containers for Paget workshops?

Yes. We supply ventilated, bunded DG units for fuels, oils, chemicals and gas cylinders. Tell us the DG class and quantities you store and we'll match the unit, because the wrong one fails an audit.

Can a container be fitted out as a tool crib or site office?

Yes. High cubes are the usual starting point for a crib or office because of the extra headroom. Tell us what the fit-out needs, such as shelving, benches, power or windows, and we'll talk through options.

Is it better to hire or buy for a maintenance contract?

If the contract has a fixed end, hiring usually makes sense. If the storage is permanent or will be modified, buying tends to win. We can quote both ways so you can compare.
